Serves 1-2

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of rooibos chai tea (rooibos is naturally caffeine-free)
  • 1 cup of boiling water or 50/50 coconut milk for a creamier version
  • 1 teaspoon tahini
  • 1 teaspoon almond butter (creamy)
  • 1/2 date (optional)

Method

  1. Add the teabag and date (if using) in small saucepan with boiling water/coconut milk and steep for a few minutes.
  2. Discard the tea bag & add tahini & almond butter
  3. Blend until creamy.
  4. Serve and Enjoy!

Tip:  You can try this with other nut or seed butters to see which flavour combination you like the best (cashew is nice)

I love Rooibos tea, never thought of using it to make a Chai Latte. I usually associate Chai Latte with exotic spices, do you have any suggestions?

A lot of the cafe chai latte’s are made of powder and syrups which are full of sugar! I always ask if it is made from leaves and spices only.

I bought a lovely mix from T2 and I’ve used a recipe similar to this which turned out lovely also. I love rooibos and it went well with this, I just find I need to use more to get a strong tea flavour.
